What to expect

Therapy that makes room for your story.

Your therapist will work with you to understand your concerns and choose a direction together. You don’t need to arrive with everything figured out.

  1. 01

Start with what brings you in.

Talk about your current concerns, experiences, and what you hope will be different.

  2. 02

    Notice patterns. Build skills.

Explore emotions and thoughts, practice coping strategies, and work on boundaries or past experiences.

  3. 03

    Bring it into daily life.

Try new approaches between sessions and talk about what is helping, what is difficult, and what needs to change.

Our approach. Depending on your clinician and goals, sessions may draw on CBT, Adlerian therapy, IFS-informed work, relational approaches, or EMDR. Your therapist can explain which approaches fit your needs.

A few common questions

Before you begin.

What happens in the first session?

Your therapist will ask about what brings you in, your background, and what you hope to work on. You can ask questions, too. Please complete your client-portal intake paperwork at least 24 hours before your appointment.

Do I need to know exactly what I want to work on?

No. You can start with what has been difficult or simply explain that something feels off. Your therapist will help you clarify your concerns and goals.

Can I have sessions online?

Yes. We offer online individual therapy for clients in Texas, as well as in-person appointments at our Katy office. Ask our team about your clinician’s scheduling options.

How do I choose a therapist?

Read about our team’s specialties and approaches, or contact us for help. In the appointment portal, choose a therapist and look for a consultation or initial assessment. If you don’t see a suitable option, contact our team.
