Some experiences stay with us long after they are over. You might notice anxiety that feels bigger than the moment, a belief about yourself that is hard to shake, or a familiar reaction you understand but cannot seem to change.
EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. It is a therapy approach that helps people work through distressing experiences. You do not need a PTSD diagnosis to ask whether it could be a good fit. People seek EMDR for trauma, anxiety, panic, grief, and experiences that affect how they feel about themselves or their relationships.
You and your therapist begin by discussing what brings you in, what you hope will change, and whether EMDR is appropriate for you. There is time to prepare before working with difficult memories. During processing, your therapist guides you through brief sets of eye movements or another form of back-and-forth stimulation while you notice what comes up. Your therapist explains each step and works at a pace that fits you.
Adam Rahman, Maria Ramirez, and Jasmine offer individual EMDR therapy. Adam has also completed group EMDR training with Dr. Ignacio “Nacho” Jarero and offers EMDR in a group setting.
If you are interested in group EMDR, contact us to ask about the next group and whether the format is a good fit for you. We will share dates and details when a group is scheduled.
Meet with us in person at our Katy, Texas office. We also offer virtual counseling across Texas when clinically appropriate. Appointments are scheduled in advance; evening and Saturday availability varies by clinician.
You do not have to decide on a treatment approach before reaching out. Tell us what you are looking for, and we will help you connect with a clinician who can discuss whether EMDR makes sense for you. Contact Social House to request an appointment or ask about group EMDR.
